That of the Via Francigena, is most famous walks and pilgrimage in Europe. Via Francigena from Canterbury (England) led to Rome is a journey of history, a major route which in the past by thousands of pilgrims traveling to Rome. Via Francigena crosses Europe, from Canterbury, runs through the county of Kent, comes to the English Channel, continues along the French regions of Nord Pas de Calais, Picardie, Champagne-Ardenne Franche-Comté, crossing the border of Switzerland and the canton of Vaud, in Italy, it runs through the regions: Valle d’Aosta, Piedmont, Lombardy, Liguria, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Lazio. By lucky chance Relais Victoria is on Via Francigena where many pilgrims stop in overnight with us. We are lucky to know so many nice people that run and that, with their stories, tell us a bit ‘of them, of the personal motivations that drive them and impressions. They are always different stories to each other because each one faces his own personal journey and spiritual in his own way. so we discover a new world and always different depending on the person that is told. Relais Victoria is on Via Francigena to host the pilgrims who, tired of the daily journey, and with the evening approaching, they want to unwind with a hot meal and a comfortable bed. This path unites everyone, people of culture and social grade different, united by the same passion, the same effort faced with the same humility and desire to get to the next stop, perhaps even spiritual. Relais Victoria is on Via Francigena, where we have the good fortune to entertain us and talk to our pilgrims guests, the evening after dinner is a little ‘together drinking good wine or relax with a good grappa and then go to sleep because tomorrow they waits with another fabulous step in this beautiful walk. Starting this year there will be big News at Relais Victoria!
Always doing a lot of attention to the needs of our guests and to achieve the goal of making them more and more relaxing and enjoyable holiday, we decided to add a beautiful News at Relais Victoria. So many of our guests, returning from a day at the beach or in the center city of Lucca or even on a trip to art cities close to us, they ask us to take a dinner, without being forced to go out again, and enjoy the summer evening in the shade of our trees and our gardens, in a quiet atmosphere with romantic dim lights of candles games. The desire to enjoy the good and simple food cooked by me with quality products of our territories, all accompanied with good wine from Tuscan and Italian. The News at Relais Victoria is that this year we decided to make these nights even more special by organizing themed dinners or inspired by the traditional cuisine of different reasons Italian, just to give our guests more and more fun and relaxation. We also created the background music with the help of a musical duett, but we’re still working on this and we will update you on the way.

Christmas in Lucca
Il Natale a Lucca è sempre molto speciale, frizzante e ricco di belle emozioni. Natale a Lucca vuol dire vivere in un atmosfera serena in compagnia o anche da soli, girando per le strade addobbate con luci sfavillanti, si perchè a Lucca non ci si sente mai soli, si è sempre accompagnati da sguardi cordiali che ti circondano. Vivere il Natale a Lucca è una emozione unica, in giro c’è voglia di festa, di vacanza con le famiglie ed amici, di aggirarsi per i vicoletti dello shopping in negozi eleganti ed illuminati a festa o in quelli un pò più riservati dove non mancano belle caffetterie. Natale a Lucca , vuol dire lasciarsi trascinare per le piazze e strade dove si sente musica ovunque di artisti unici nel loro genere. Natale a Lucca vuol dire mercatini, esposizioni, mostre di artisti di diverse estrazioni, perchè come sempre la cultura è al centro di grande interesse con musei, antiche ville e giardini aperti al pubblico. Natale a Lucca vuol dire Piazze addobbate, gente che si diverte anche sulla famosa pista di ghiaccio di piazza Napoleone o che si ritrova nelle antiche librerie, specie in quelle che all’interno hanno delle confortevoli caffetterie. Natale a Lucca…semplicemente unico.

Sacro e Profano
Photolux festival edizione 2015 è dedicato all’eterno dualismo che regola il mondo.
Come al solito un’edizione ricca di ospiti, eventi e tutto quanto collegato alla fotografia.
Gli incontri aperti al pubblico portano a Lucca, durante i weekend del festival, importanti ospiti internazionali per confrontarsi, tra gli altri, sui temi dell’etica della fotografia, della manipolazione degli scatti, della rappresentazione della figura femminile e della nuova fotografia social.
Oltre 40 appuntamenti, quindi, nel segno del Sacro e Profano, tema portante dell’edizione 2015 della Biennale, sviluppato attraverso presentazioni di libri, proiezioni di documentari e approfondimenti sui nuovi modi di fare fotografia e informazione.
Per il Photolux Festival sono state scelte sedi prestigiose della città accoglieranno i talk: a disposizione del Photolux Festival sono state messe la sede della Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca in piazza San Giusto, le sale della Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca in via San Micheletto, l’auditorium della Fondazione Banca del Monte in piazza San Martino e il Real Collegio.
Come al solito tante sono le presentazioni dei libri tra le quali, da segnalare, è l’appuntamento con il fotografo Aurelio Amendola che, insieme all’Arcivescovo di Lucca, Italo Castellani e il responsabile delle antichità classiche della fabbrica di San Pietro, Pietro Zander, parlerà dei suoi scatti effettuati all’interno della Basilica di San Pietro. Il talk è fissato alle 10 di sabato 21 novembre, nella sede di piazza San Giusto della Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca. Sempre sabato, inoltre, Oliviero Toscani presenterà il volume “Più di cinquant’anni di magnifici fallimenti”.
Da segnalare anche l’incontro con Antonella Monzoni, fotografa modenese, che nel centenario del genocidio armeno presenta il suo photobook Ferita Armena (sabato 28 novembre, ore 11, Real Collegio).
Numerosi anche gli ospiti internazionali: Lars Boering, direttore del World Press Photo, James Estrin, senior photographer del New York Times e Karin Kaufman, art director delle Leica Galleries International che si confronterà con Inas Fayed, direttrice di Leica Fotografie International e Andrea Pacella, marketing manager Leica Camera Italia.
Protagonisti dei talk di Photolux anche i vincitori del World Press Photo 2015, tra i quali il toscano Massimo Sestini, autore del celebre scatto che mostra dall’alto un’imbarcazione di migranti al largo delle coste libiche.
Per il contest Sunday Photographers sabato 28 novembre nelle sale della Fondazione Crl in San Micheletto si riunirà la giuria, composta dal direttore della testata, Mario Calabresi, dalle photo editor, Ilaria Opezzo e Giulia Ticozzi, dal direttore di Camera. Centro italiano per la fotografia, Lorenzo Bravetta e dal fotografo di Magnun Photos, Paolo Pellegrin.
